Autumn 2017 has seen some very wet and windy weather, as such the Activity Coordinator at Rivington Park has had to use her creative skills to ensure residents were still able to enjoy and feel stimulated with a number of indoor activities, alongside the day trips out.
First and foremost was the craft sessions ready for the Venturi Health Care annual Christmas card competition! Of course, residents and staff were determined to win this competition and their competitive streaks were certainly prevalent in their Christmas Cards designs… keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of the winners.
On Wednesday 4th October residents set out on their weekly trip, this time they had chosen to visit Oswaldtwistle Mills, which was a great experience, despite the heavy rain! Later in the month the home visited Birkacre Garden Centre, which is one of the residents favourite local destinations.
We have a number of keen readers at Rivington Park, so an “Authors Day” was organised for November, it provided residents with the opportunity to discuss their favourite books and authors, sharing memories of past times when they would sit in the sunshine having a lazy Sunday with their favourite book.
Friday 17th November was a red letter day for one of our residents had the opportunity to see an Elvis Tribute at Preston Guild Hall accompanied by Trish the Activity Coordinator. This was all made possible by the grant of one hundred pounds which we received from The OOMPH Foundation. For the resident, it was an unforgettable evening, made all the more special by meeting the stars after the show, thanks to the VIP “Meet and Greet” Package which we were able to afford.
