Rivington Park invited the Alzheimer’s Society to their home to support and celebrate Dementia Action Week. We appreciate that at times it can be hard to know what to say or how to behave with someone living with Dementia, as such the aim of Dementia Action Week is to encourage social interaction and meaningful conversations with those affected by Dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Society offered support and guidance to the staff team at Rivington Park and relatives of those living with us by providing tips on how to start and maintain a conversation with someone living with Dementia. During their visit they reminded us all of the importance of social interactions and how the small things can brighten someones day. Our staff are encouraged to be patient, wait a little for a reply, to talk about things they know our Residents love or have a particular interest in.
It was a lovely and successful day and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Alzheimer’s Society for the benefit of our Residents.
